Dan Portes and his wife Judy Shawver have three children who are graduates of Davenport public schools. Dan took a leadership role in passing the local option sales tax for the county which created the funds to renovate the public schools in Davenport. Dan is founder of Management Resource Group which started in 1989 and continues to operate off Eastern Avenue today.
In the 1990’s, Dan was part of a small group of local business leaders who helped merge five separate organizations to create DavenportOne. He would later serve as its Chairman and during his tenure, River Renaissance became a reality which was the start of the downtown rejuvenation. In addition to serving as a board member of the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce, Portes’ volunteer service also includes serving on the boards of the Putnam Museum, Riverboat Development Authority (RDA) and Friends of the Davenport Library. He was previously elected to the Davenport School Board and currently serves on the Scott County Plan and Zone Commission.
